It was housed in a building that was a combination of the church on the first floor, with six classrooms and a principal's office on the second floor. It's doors officially opened in January of 1907, and five Sisters of St. Jospeh from Baden, Pennsylvania became the first teachers.
In September, 1973 the school known at St. Richard's School and was renamed Hill District Catholic School. A final name change occurred in 1978 when several parishes merged with St. Richard's Parish. The original site of St. Richard's School, and the only one remaining church, Old Trinity, became known as St. Benedict the Moor Parish. This is the one and only surviving Catholic School and Church in the Hill District Community.
